RSS or Rich Site Summary is a format for distributing and aggregating all kinds of content on the Web such as news links, Blogs etc. It is a form of XML, which means that each piece of data - a headline, introduction or description - is coded separately. In this way, software will know exactly what to do with it. So, when you want to catch up with whatever your friend writes on his blog or the latest news from Rediff.com you'll continue to get updates even when you don't visit those sites.
Having RSS will help you keep track of the latest stuff happening with other Rediff iLanders and bloggers.
What do Rediff RSS/XML feeds do?
They gather information related to your areas of interest - movies, cricket, politics or breaking news - and deposit them all on your desktop. So, in effect, if you don't stop by the site, the headlines pretty much pay your PC a visit.
So how do I get the RSS feeds on my Rediff iLand?
- Download and install free RSS reader software
- Copy paste the url i.e internet address of the Webpage you wish to get RSS feeds from into your RSS reader.
Eg. If you happen to visit someone's Blogs on Rediff iLand and you think you'd love to keeping reading everything this person ever writes then you can copy paste the url of this person's page from the browser window and paste it into your RSS reader.
- That's all, you'll know every move this person makes….well almost!
What's a Permalink?
Permalink is a type of URL designed to refer to a specific information item
(in this case a Post i.e. Photo/Image/Text). Even if this Post is changed, renamed,
